School’s appeal to help orphan

Pupils at a West Lothian school are appealing for support for their latest fundraisin­g appeal. Teenagers at Broxburn Academy have an outline plan to raise enough money to provide an education for a young orphaned girl in Uganda. And they hope to get enough money to be able to make an outline of Africa in coins.

And they are appealing for donations of loose change from local people. The pupils are aiming to educate Ruth. The youngster lost both her parents to AIDS, and attends the Magale school.

Ruth has ambitions to become a doctor and Broxburn pupils are trying to help her on achieve that goal. Up until now she has been doing menial tasks in her orphanage, in order to support herself. But the Broxburn youngsters have already raised enough money to pay for Ruth’s next school term, by selling cakes at their Easter concert. Now, in order to pay for her education beyond next term, they are urging people to donate any change to the school.
