Hitting the high notes

This happy half-dozen from St Anthony’s Primary School in Armadale lifted first prize for Recorder Group Music at the Falkirk Music Festival.

The children in the group - Lynn Savage, Sandra Jamieson, Mary Allison, Helen McIntyre, Kathleen Mackay and William Roach - won the top prize comfortably, which even surprised instructor Miss Benassi.

She commented: “I was expecting a good result and was delighted with the programme they played.”

This was the group’s first competition and they were up against several much more experienced groups.
