GREEN FINGERS

-

Staff, parents and children at Windyknowe Nursery in Bathgate have been working hard to develop their garden.

A spokeswoman for the nursery said:“James, a grandparent of a nursery child, has been working very hard and given up his free time to create a big ship from pallets.

“James came along while the children were in nursery to ask their opinion and to help create the ship using a real saw and power tools.

“The children have already enjoyed hours of fun exploring and developing their imaginative play. He later came back to create small benches for our children to relax, chat and read books.

“Mrs Weir, a mum of one of our children, has also given her free time to help cut willow which was then added to our fence to provide a more natural and warm looking environment. Mrs Weir has also worked hard at tidying up the nursery garden and paint benches to make it look a more inviting environment for the children.

“Mrs Stewart, another mum, who has also given up her free time to send out letters to various establishments for donations.

“Aldi very kindly provided us with a voucher from which we managed to purchase new planters and decorations.

“We received a large bag of bulbs which Mrs Stewart helped the children plant in the garden. She also cut willow to add to the fence area. We would also like to thank Mrs Warrington, a mum whose sixchildren have attended our nursery, for the large donation of pallets which helped build the boat and create a fence around our digging area.”
