The management committee of Crofthead Farm Community Education Centre recently held its AGM. The meeting was informed that money raised from lets was used to maintain and improve the Farm’s facilities. New flooring was laid in the main hall, Café and Mill Room and new blinds were put up in the main hall. The Café was refurbishe­d and redecorate­d. Plans are in place to have the loft space in the main hall and adjacent corridors insulated. After several years of lying empty the Farm Cottage has been occupied by the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme. The Farm has also welcomed the Bike Lending Library. This new West Lothian wide initiative will have a workshop and bike store at the Farm. Rates for the various rooms have been frozen to remain comparable with other Centres. The Farm continues to be a great asset to the local community offering a diverse range of activities and support groups catering for all ages and abilities. The new committee was elected on the night and comprises; chairperso­n, Michael Duncan, vice chair, John Hamilton, secretary Kathleen Kirton, treasurer Senga Douglas and ordinary members Rob Humphrey and Archie Douglas. Similar to other Community Recycling Centres in West Lothian the facility at Oakbank has commenced its extending opening hours. The Centre will be open from 9am -7pm every day of the week with last entry 15 minutes before closing. Livingston South Community Church is holding its Service of Worship in the upper lounge of the Lanthorn this Sunday starting at 10am. The service will be taken by the Rev Marilyn Maclaine and all interested are most welcome to attend. The Church is holding a Garden Fete at Murieston Village Hall on Saturday June 24 from 1.30-3.30pm. Fun for all the family is guaranteed and admission is free. Dedridge Good Neighbour Network 50+ Lunch and Social Club meet on Wednesday June 28 at 12.30pm. After a home cooked meal, a Prize Bingo will be held. Cost of lunch is £3.50 and £1 for the social, new attenders are always welcome and for further details telephone 01506-416137. The Network is holding its annual general meeting at the Lanthorn on Wednesday June 28 from 1.30-3pm. Refreshmen­ts will be provided and all interested are welcome to attend. Dedridge Spirituali­st Church based at Crofthead Farm next meet on Wednesday June 28 at 7.30pm. Guest speaker on the night is Linda Scott from Livingston and all interested are welcome to attend. Lanthorn Community Complex is holding its AGM in the main hall this Saturday at 11.30pm. Refreshmen­ts will be served following the meeting and all interested are welcome to attend. The Family History Centre sponsored by West Lothian Council, has an office based within the Lanthorn Library. Trained and experience­d volunteers are on hand to help assist people start their Family Tree or lend their expertise when a search runs into difficulti­es. A vast amount of informatio­n is available both on computer and printed documents. The Centre is open on Monday’s from 10am -3pm and on Tuesday and Thursdays from 11am -4pm. No appointmen­ts are necessary, just turn up and begin your search.
