Our Local Hero Award winner for this month is getting ready to treat herself after picking up a well deserved £100 gift card.
Leona Mullarky picked up her certificate and gift card, courtesy of The Centre, Livingston, after being picked as our Local Hero for all the hard work she does in her community.
Leona, a school fundraiser and founding member of Eliburn Community Council, was nominated by her close friend Stephie Clark in recognition of all of the free time she devotes to helping out in the community.
Leona said: “I was thrilled to collect my Local Hero Award this week and still can’t believe I won.”
“Thanks to Stephie for nominating me and a huge thanks to the management team at The Centre and the West Lothian Courier for choosing me.
“I have really enjoyed organising fundraising events for the school and keeping on top of planning applications at Eliburn Community Council, which I never expected recognition for.
“My plan is to continue to be involved with volunteering for the foreseeable future as it really is a great way to be involved and get to know people in the community.”
