Final ball wins for Vics and Linlithgow

-

Fauldhouse Victoria needed every ball in order to make it two ESCA Division Two wins in a row.

In a dramatic match away from home at Carlton Third XI, Vics scraped a single on the final ball to seal a four-wicket victory.

Carlton produced a decent display as they notched 192-4 from their 40 overs. They appeared to be the favourites as Fauldhouse wickets fell at a consistent rate but Vics held their nerve in the final overs to grab a thrilling win.

They weren’t the only team to seal victory with the final ball as Linlithgow’s Second XI grabbed their first Division Three win of the season.

Haddington notched 176-5 from their 40 overs with Linlithgow needing every ball to win by five wickets.

A stunning bowling display helped guide Livingston Fist XI to a 132-run win at home to Drummond Trinity in Division Two as they dismissed the visitors for 50.

Ahmed Ali was the star man as he hit 40 with the bat before making light work of the Drummond Trinity batsmen with figures of 4-2-5-4.

A decent batting performance saw Livi hit 182-7 from their 40 overs. That proved to be more than enough as the visitors were reduced to 13-4 before losing five wickets for just 10 runs as Ali and Naveen Subhanaboina (8-0-23-3) whittled out Drummond Trinity in 18.2 overs.

They host St Boswells this weekend looking for a second straight win.

In the Division Six fixture between the two team’s Second XI sides, Drummond Trinity came out on top and kept their place at the top of the table.

Drummond batted first and scored 164 for the loss of eight wickets from their 40 overs. In their reply, Livi never looked like challenging and they were dismissed for 106 in the 37th over. They are away at Holy Cross Second XI this weekend.

Linlithgow’s First XI are still awaiting their first win of the campaign as they lost by three wickets at home to Watsonians Second XI.

Having been bowled all out for 125, Linlithgow were unable to defend the modest target despite a promising start that saw them reduce the visitors to 16-3 but they were unable to build on that positive start and slumped to a sixth loss of the campaign.
