Callum Carson New Livingston midfielder Scott Robinson hopes a return to full-time football will help him rekindle his love for the game.

The 25-year-old midfielder took a step down to part-time for the first time in his career last season when he moved to League One side East Fife.

But his stint there proved to be a short one as he joined teammate Ross Brown in swapping the Fifers for Livi during the summer. And he admits he took being involved at a full-time level for granted until signing for the Methil-based outfit last summer.

He commented: “It’s great to be back at a full-time level and I think this is the perfect club for me to be honest.

“There’s good facilities here and the staff and players are great. I’ve been very impressed with everything so far and I’m just looking forward to getting playing.

“It’s going to be a great league this season with some terrific sides and players in it, so I’m happy to be involved.”

He added: “Once I get back fit, hopefully I can be playing week in and week out and have a good season. I just want to get back playing and having a smile on my face and being in a full-time environment.

“It’s a chance that I can’t let slip because you don’t really appreciate how lucky you are to be playing full-time football as a career until you make that step down to part-time.

“I’ve been given the opportunity to play full- time football again and it’s up to myself to make sure I take advantage of the chance. It’s what I’ve always wanted to be so hopefully I can just get out there and do the business on the pitch.”

Robinson became Hearts’ youngest-ever player when he made his professional debut in 2008 barely one month after turning 16.

He went on to become a key member of the squad at Tynecastle but his career has stuttered somewhat over the last few years with unsuccessful spells at Kilmarnock and Dunfermline Athletic prompting the step down to League One last summer.

Despite that, he’s confident he’ll make the most of the chance he’s been handed by Livingston and can play a key role in a successful season for the club.

He said: “The aim really is to play as many games as I can and help contribute to a decent season for the club. There’s plenty of talent here and I’m confident we can be looking up the way rather than down and be a very good side in this league.”
