What’s in style for the holidays

The Courier catches up with some shoppers

As hundreds of visitors descended on the mall for some last minute, musthave holiday purchases, the Style Squad took the opportunity to get out and about and find four lucky shoppers to give £25 gifts to.

Inspired by the season’s hottest trends, shoppers were snapping up everything from bold and pastel floral printed shorts as seen on the catwalks to leather-look rock chic skirts and stylish brightly coloured shirts

And in footwear the big hits included glamorous mules and kitten heels with funky hats and sunglasses completing the look.

The Style Squad spoke to four very stylish visitors to the mall to find out what they were shopping for and gave them all a Gift Card worth £25 to allow them to continue to enjoy even more shopping.

All four pictures will appear on Shop The Centre Facebook page on Thursday July 6 and the picture which receives the most likes over a period of 48 hours will receive another £100 Gift Card from The Centre. First up was dad of three, Gary Miller ( 36) an engineer from Biggar who was getting his lastminute holiday shopping clothes, accessories and toiletries for his forthcoming week-long family holiday in Crete. “I’m off work today and took the opportunity, without the kids, to get some last minute bits and pieces for our holiday which we’re all really excited about,” he said. “When shopping at The Centre I know I get everything I need, under one roof which makes life so much easier when it comes to shopping, especially for t h ree children under 10.” Next up was super cool mum, Laura Stirling (34) f rom Bo’ness, who was on a special shopping day out with her daughter.

Laura was delighted to show off the new footwear she snapped up – a pair of retro classic, low-top Adidas Gazelle trainers.

“I’ve always like Gazelle’s and was delighted Schuh had a pair in my size – just need to get the outfit now.”

Our next shopper was Kessar Ali ( 28) from Livingston. Kessar is a self-employed sales executive and was celebrating Eid al-Fitr, with a shopping trip for new clothes before enjoying quality time celebrating with the family.

He said: “I have always loved Superdry clothes, especially the jeans. They just fit so well, the quality and design is great and last for a while. This is a very special date in the calendar for me so looking and feeling good is top priority.”

Last one up on the day was Rachel Kirk, (26), who is a nursery teacher in Falkirk. Rachel was enjoying a day out shopping with her boyfriend Ryan Stewart (21) when we stopped them to find out what purchases they had made.

In addition to picking up some great summer pieces for their forthcoming holiday travelling around Croatia, the pair are also in training to climb their first ever mountain, Ben Nevis, to raise funds for Falkirk District Association of Mental Health.

Rachel said: “I bought this top from H&M to help give me a boost with my training to climb Ben Nevis in August.

“This is something Ryan and I have always wanted to do and are really looking forward to it and raising money for a worthwhile cause at the same time. By the time our touring holiday to Croatia comes up at the end of August, we’ll be really needing it.”

Ashley Bisland, deputy centre director at The Centre, said: “We always enjoy giving away our £25 Gift Cards once a month when our Style Squad team are in the shopping centre – it is a great way to say a special thank you to our customers and see what goodies they’ve bought on the day.”
