Armadale Academy is celebrating its 50th Anniversary as this year marks 50 years since Armadale Academy was first opened. The school first opened in 1967 and the school is planning to celebrate their Golden Anniversary in September 2017. They are currently making plans on how they can celebrate this event as a community and hope to have a guest speaker to describe the changes over the last five decades as well as having some displays. The school is looking for help to create this and are appealing for any photographs from your time at Armadale Academy over the last 50 years? Maybe you have photos from the old school? Perhaps sporting or academic achievements or music shows etc. Any photos can be copied by the school and promptly and returned to you. They are also hoping to have displays in their cabinets of memorabilia from the last 50 years that would be of interest to others at this event. Can you help by lending us anything for these? Maybe you could share a story or memory from your time at school - happy events and fond memories, maybe of friendships made or school dinners or maybe the time you got the belt! The school is open to suggestions for ideas on how they should mark this anniversary. If you can help with any of these ideas or would like to be involved in the organising any part of the event, please get in touch with Yvonne.egan@westlothian.org.uk or call 01506 282145.
