Police hunt after man is mowed down
Police are treating a hit- and- run incident in which a 54-year- old man was seriously injured as attempted murder.
A red Citroen C3 struck a pedestrian on Deans North Road in Livingston following a chase by a marked police car on Monday at around 4.15pm. The Citroen C3 failed to stop after officers signalled it on Ladywell Road.
Police then went in pursuit of the car until Carmondean Centre Roundabout where the Citroen continued on to Deans North Road and hit the 54-year-old.
Officers provided first aid to the man and the Scottish Ambulance Service attended.
The man was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious but non lifethreatening injuries.
The Citroen continued towards Eliburn Roundabout and then struck a Ford Fiesta and a Lexus travelling in the opposite direction before coming to a stop shortly afterwards. The driver fled.

Batten, of Livingston CID, said: “An extensive investigation into this incident is currently underway by both detectives and officers from the Road Policing Unit and we’ve already spoken to a number of people as part of our enquiries.
“However we’d urge anyone who may have seen the Citroen travelling in the area beforehand, who witnessed the pursuit or saw the collisions take place, or those who saw the Citroen come to a stop and anyone leaving the vehicle to get in touch with us as soon as possible. As is standard procedure when there has been police involvement or contact prior to a serious incident, it has been referred to the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner.”
Officers are treating the incident as attempted murder and are following a ‘positive line of enquiry’.
