Access2emp­loyment is a free employabil­ity service run by West Lothian Council supporting local people into employment, training or education. Experience­d advisers are located in the Craiginn Centre on Tuesdays from 2pm till 4.30pm and Fridays by appointmen­t only. You can book an appointmen­t free on 0800 032 9768. The Church Coffee Mornings are held in the Church on the last Thursday of each month from 10a.m. The September one will be held on the 21st so that it will not conflict with the MacMillan one the following week.

Time Out Art Class meet in the Craiginn Centre on Tuesday’s from 6 p.m. Teas and coffees are available after morning worship each Sunday. Service begins at 10 a.m. Communion will be on September 3 rd . All welcome. World’s Biggest Coffee Morning will take place in the Craiginn Centre on Friday September 29th. The amaz- ing Peter Merlin Halloween themed from 12 noon until 2 p.m.with magic, games, best costume and much more. Entry £2 must be accompanie­d by a paying adult. Pay at the door on the day. SWI new session will begin on Monday September 11 th in the Craiginn Centre at 7 p.m. There is to be a Floral Art demonstrat­ion on that evening. Competitio­ns are 1 flower from your garden and a favourite fridge magnet. All are welcome, meetings are held on the second Monday of each month from September through to May. Monday Club welcomed Christine Duncan to last weeks meeting. Christine delighted the group with songs before going on to tell of her various visits to Shetland sharing pictures and some of her experience­s there. She finished with a couple of songs and was duly thanked by the group. Tea was served and a short time spent playing dominoes and scrabble. Coalfields Community Futures Action Plan Last Tuesday night in the Craiginn Centre saw the Coalfields Community Futures Action Plan officially launched. This plan is for the next five years in which we hope will see several improvemen­ts to village life here in Blackridge. Copies of this plan are available now and highlight how you can become involved to help enhance the village. The Coalfields regenerati­on trust distribute­d £25000 to various groups in the village and representa­tives of these groups told how this funding has already helped them.
