Season to forget wraps up

-

As it has done for large parts of the 2017 season, the weather was the main winner as the East of Scotland Cricket Association season came to an end.

Cancelled games for Linlithgow First XI and Fauldhouse Vics were bad news as the teams finished second bottom in Division One and at the foot of Division Two, respectively.

Linlithgow’s poor year came to an end with just two wins, although they were only able to get a result in 10 of their games, by far the lowest in the division. Their last game, away to Watsonian Second XI, was cancelled without a ball being bowled.

Fauldhouse end the campaign last in Division Two after their clash at home to Carlton Third XI was postponed while Largo’s four points in a 62-run loss against St Boswells was enough for them to finish ahead of Vics.

Livingston’s inconsistent campaign ended in delight with a three-wicket triumph away to Drummond Trinity.

Chasing 152 for victory, Livi needed all the allotted overs to chase the total, reaching their target with four balls left in the innings.

Linlithgow’s Second XI have, like the club’s top team, struggled to pick up victories this season and they ended up with just one win to their name.

Their final Division Three match, at home to Haddington, fell foul to the weather while Livi’s Second XI side settled for fifth spot in Division Six after their final game was also called off.
