Kyle spurs record victory

- Kirkcaldy YM .......... 1 Pumpherston ........ 11

Pumpherston netted an incredible 11 times as they eased to a club record victory over Kirkcaldy YM in a South Division clash.

Kyle Sampson, on loan from senior club Livingston, was the star of the show as he scored seven times.

The 17-year-old raced out of the gates to fire home twice in the first eight minutes and give his side a strong platform.

Kirkcaldy fought back and were able to reduce the deficit just before the 15-minute mark through Nathan Reaney but the visitors answered them immediately through Sampson, who completed his hat-trick.

The hosts were reduced to 10 men when Aaron Lindsay was shown a second yellow card by referee Barry Reid and from then on it was all one way traffic.

Pumpherston were able to add two more before the break as Sampson added his fourth before Ally McRitchie found the net for the first of his three strikes on the day.

McRitchie netted the first after the interval before Barry Nicholson made it seven on the hour mark.

The prolific McRitchie made sure he grabbed a hat-trick as he found the net on 66 minutes.

And the scoring wasn’t finished there as two more from Livi loanee Sampson took Pumphy into double figures before he rounded off an incredible day for him and his team in the 86th minute.

Craig Martin’s men are in East of Scotland Cup First Round action on Saturday and face an interesting challenge as they host an Edinburgh United side sitting at the top of the South Division, two places and three points ahead of Pumpherston.
