Steady start will do nicely

-

Ten games into the season and only one defeat – I think we’d all have taken that before the action started.

Through in two cup competitions and sitting pretty in the league, we have a team that will run themselves into the ground for the badge whilst also playing some nice football.

I’d be lying if I said it’s been a perfect start, though. It’s been good, if a little frustrating, but five points from four league games is a steady start.

With a young side you are going to get inconsistent results but one thing you can’t argue about is that this team are hungry for success. They fight for everything and that’s credit to both themselves and the coaching staff.

Yes, we had a hiccup last week at home to St Mirren, but the sign of a good team is bouncing back and we did just that with a brilliant display at Cappielow against Greenock Morton.

It was a workmanlike display as we battled to a well deserved first three points of the season and that puts us level with Morton in the table.

Next up we make the long trip down south to take on The New Saints in the Irn-Bru Cup. We know all about them after they defeated us at home in the quarter-finals last season so I’m sure we will be looking to put that result right on Sunday.

For those travelling down, have a safe journey and let’s hope you can bring the victory back up the road to the Tony Macaroni Arena.
