Jacobs goes on record

-

Midfielder Keaghan Jacobs tied Livi’s all-time appearance record after he pulled on the club’s jersey for the 219th time in Saturday’s victory over Morton.

The 27-year-old, who has found the net on 26 occasions during his time at the club, made his debut in a 4-0 victory over Alloa Athletic in November 2007.

And, along with younger triplet brothers Kyle, Devon and Sheldon, he became part of the only set of four brothers to play for the same team in a professional match when Livi beat Albion Rovers in April 2010.

Jacobs left the club to return to his native South Africa in 2015, penning a deal with top tier side Bidvest Wits.

However, injury put paid to his spell there and he rejoined the Lions in January before agreeing to extend his stay after helping them seal their return to the Championship.

Head coach David Hopkin paid tribute to Jacobs, who could break the record he shares with former teammate Liam Fox this weekend against The New Saints in the Irn-Bru Cup.

Hopkin said:“It’s fantastic. He’s been phenomenal since we brought him back to the club.

“Keags has been a tremendous pro, as were his younger brothers when they were at the club.

“It’s great testament to him that he’s tied the record and speaks to what he’s meant to the club over the years and I’m delighted for him. I’m sure he’ll break it soon.”
