Personal bests galore in the pool

Swim-IT members combined for a stunning 47 personal best swims and 36 medals at the recent Dunedin Meet held in Bathgate.

The swimmers were all in great form with Grace Stephens gaining a phenomenal nine personal bests as well as two silver medals and five bronzes.

Mia McLeod, swimming in some of her events for the first time, showed no signs of nerves by grabbing eight personal bests, two gold medals and five silver medals.

Rachel Donald led the way for the club with an incredible five gold medals and four bronzes. She finished in the top three in all off her events and also claimed four new personal records.

Elsewhere, there were six personal best times for Natalie Marshall who also won two golds, one silver and five bronzes in a terrific meeting. She knocked 36 seconds of her previous record in the 200m breaststro­ke.

Owen Higgins matched Natalie with six PBs recorded and swam well in all of his races, some of which were his first in competitio­n.

Nicole MacFarlane was in the medals, winning five in total (two gold, three silver) as well as recording two new personal bests.

There were four new personal best times for Fraser McKee while Sophie Holleran grabbed three new records. She recorded a 20 second PB in the 200m breaststro­ke and 16 second PB in the 200m freestyle.

Aziliz Mackay and Abbie Morton both claimed a pair of new PBs while Eilidh Gourlay swam a brilliant 50m free in her first ever competitio­n.
