United stay in charge

-

Blackburn United strengthened their grip on top spot in the SWFL Division Two Central table with a 4-0 victory over Glasgow Girls Development.

Connor McCloskey’s team got off to the perfect start as Vicky Wood gave her team the lead after just 38 seconds.

Further goals came from Shannon Mulligan and a double from Nicole Norris as United sealed a comfortable victory as they remain undefeated this term, dropping just two points.

With seven games remaining this term, Blackburn sit three points clear of Airdrie in what is a two-horse race for the title.

United host a key derby match on Sunday as they welcome Linlithgow to New Murrayfield Park with the Rose coming off a disappointing 1-1 draw with Cumbernauld Colts Development.

Elsewhere on Sunday there were a pair of battling displays, with differing results, for Broxburn Athletic Colts and Murieston United.

Colts have struggled at time during their maiden campaign but gave a terrific account of themselves away at a Hamilton Academical Development who entered the clash sitting in fourth spot, losing 3-1.

Murieston didn’t have it all their own way against a Hawick side slumped at the foot of the table, but ground out a 2-1 victory.

They travel to Stenhousemuir on Sunday with Broxburn Athletic Colts hosting East Kilbride Girls.
