Clubs at bottom to clash

-

Brechin City host Falkirk as the bottom two sides in the Championship clash in the highlight fixture of the weekend.

The hosts will be well rested after they had the week off as they were dumped out of the Irn-Bru Cup at the first round stage by Highland League side Buckie Thistle, while the Bairns squeezed past League of Ireland outfit Sligo Rovers on Saturday.

While City’s poor start was expected from a side tipped for relegation, that Peter Houston’s men are tied with them on a single point from four games is a shock and the Bairns will be hoping a win can propel their charge up the division.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Dunfermline Athletic know victory over Greenock Morton at Cappielow will keep them at the top of the table.

Dundee United, who suffered their first league defeat of the campaign prior to the break for the Irn-Bru Cup, will be keen to get back to winning ways and will be considered favourites against Dumbarton.

The Sons, who needed a last-minute extra-time goal to get the better of Welsh Premier League side Connah’s Quay, are still searching for their first victory of the league campaign.

The weekend’s remaining fixture sees St Mirren welcome Inverness Caley Thistle to the Paisley 2021 Stadium with both sides having defeated top flight Colt teams in the Irn-Bru Cup.
