Ruthless displays a positive

-

Ruthless. That’s the word I used in last week’s blog and up until last weekend we hadn’t been ruthless enough.

Obviously someone must have been reading the blog because on Saturday in the Highlands, it was finally a ruthless performance from the Lions.

Four shots on target and three goals – that is exactly what we have been needing.

It was another tactical masterclass from the management team and executed perfectly by the players.

Let’s not forget Inverness had been a Premiership team last season, and seven players that started that game for the Jags were key players for them in the Premiership.

Make no mistake about it, winning Saturday’s game was a superb result, despite the pretty poor form of the home side.

That win set us up perfectly for our free go at Hibernian in the Betfred Cup quarter-final.

It was a game we hadn’t expected to be playing in and all the pressure was on the home side.

We gave the Easter Road team a big scare, taking the lead twice and pushing them all the way to the end before agonisingly losing out controversially 3-2.

I can’t remember being as proud of the team despite defeat. It was a tremendous effort by everyone.

But it’s the bread and butter of the league that is more important and it’s back to that on Saturday with a short trip to Falkirk.

The Bairns are a team many predicted to challenge at the top but they are currently languishing near the bottom.

That’s not to say it will be an easy game though. Falkirk, I’m sure, will turn it around but by picking points up from this game it may just send a message that we aren’t going away.

Let’s get behind the team yet again and cheer the boys to a positive result.
