Back to business at Regal

Clubs and groups who meet at the Regal in Bathgate can continue to call the theatre home.

West Lothian Council owns the B-listed, art deco former cinema building and has now assumed day-to-day management.

The Regal was previously managed by the Regal Community Theatre Bathgate Limited (RCTBL) board, who have now ceased trading. Existing hall lets wi l l continue, and the spaces in Regal remain available for hire for meetings and other events, including the auditorium. Shows and performances can’t presently be accommodated.

A West Lothian Council spokesperson said: “It’s business as usual. We have worked with the RCTBL board towards an orderly handover, which includes a comprehensive list of existing lets and bookings. Arrangements have been made so they can all be accommodated.

“West Lothian Council has provided significant support to RCTBL in recent years, and we regret they were not able to find a sustainable model for the business.

“A consultation will shortly be carried out with the local community and user groups to search for a viable use for the property, and we would encourage all those with an interest to get involved.”
