Church Coffee Mornings are held in the Church on the last Thursday of each month from 10am Time Out Art Class meet in the Craiginn Centre on Tuesdays from 6 p.m. Membership­s are now due for the Community Education Associatio­n. Forms are available at the centre. Craiginn Community Education Centre Friday October 20 th. Caterpilla­r Music from 1 p.m. -2 p.m.fun,music and creative learning best suited for 0-6 years older children are welcome. Entry cost £2 per child places are limited. Tickets from Craiginn Centre. Friday 20 th October, Our Grand Finally,Party Time with Glow in the Dark Party with lots of fun and prizes for age 5 and over. Interested in knitting or crochet or wanting to learn how to? It is hoped to start a group in the Craiginn Centre. If you would like to be part of it then please leave your name at the Centre.A starting date for this class is expected to be October 26th. (This has still to be confirmed) Blackridge, Westrigg and Westcraigs Children’s Gala Committee AGM will be held on Monday November 6 th at 7p.m. in the Craiginn Centre.

Old Folks Committee have organised a dance in the Craiginn Centre on November 25 th at 7 p.m. Cost is £5 per head. Music by John Morgan.

SWI President Tracy Hill extended a warm welcome at the October meeting of the SWI held in the Craiginn Centre. Routine business was soon dealt with before handing over to the guest for the evening Stuart Borrowman who was to give a most informativ­e and interestin­g talk on Blackridge and how it came to be and the village that it is now. Marlene Dickson thanked Stuart on behalf of the members and tea was served. Competitio­n winners were A Coaster 1st Mary McNee and 2nd Margaret Robb. Potato Scones 1st Mary McNee and 2nd Margaret Robb. A Favourite Jam Dish, 1st Sadie Montgomery,2nd Margaret Robb and 3rd Mary McNee. The outing to Peebles on Tuesday 28th November for some retail therapy and lunch will cost £28. There are still seats available for this outing if you would like to go contact any Rural member. The closing date for this years Shoebox Appeal is Sunday 29th October. Forms with the details and check list are available at the Church. Last year Blythswood distribute­d 121,474 shoeboxes to people in need.
