Rose jump into second

- Jeanfield Swifts ...... 2 Linlithgow Rose ..... 5

Linlithgow Rose came from behind to seal a comfortable away victory and climb into second spot in the Superleague table.

With Bonnyrigg Rose inactive, Mark Bradley’s men made the most of the opportunity as they sealed their eighth win in 10 games this term.

Despite the final outcome, the scores were level on the hour mark after the top-flight new boys edged the first half.

Chris Scott opened the scoring for the hosts who were then made to pay for the lack of finishing touch.

They squandered several chances to get their noses further in front prior to Tommy Coyne netting the first of his three on the half-hour mark.

After a sub-par first half, the visitors showed their potential with a ruthless display in front of goal after the break.

Coyne put his side in front and notched his second on 62 minutes before ensuring the Rose were firmly in the driving seat barely five minutes later as the prolific striker completed his hat-trick.

Linlithgow refused to let their foot off the gas and extended their lead again through Ruari MacLennan on 73 minutes before Owen Ronald gave the scoreline a more comprehensive feel than the Rose possibly deserved with a fifth in the latter stages.

The Perth-based hosts were able to grab a consolation on 85 minutes as Gary Fergus fired past Darren Hill in the Linlithgow goal.

But it didn’t take the gloss off an impressive three points away at tricky opposition as the Rose continue to look like title contenders.

They host struggling Sauchie at Prestonfield this weekend.
