We can learn from defeat says Neil
Livingston goalkeeper Neil Alexander admitted the defeat at East End Park is a perfect learning experience for the side.
The Lions put in a disappointing display as they slumped to just their second league loss of the season, but the veteran keeper hopes the younger members of the squad will take plenty from the game.
He said: “We’re a very young squad and we’ll learn. We’ll take it on the chin and move on to Brechin, which is a very big game for us.
“Sometimes you learn more from a defeat than you do a win and that’s really the challenge for the guys.
“We’ll take the positives from the second half and reflect on what went wrong in the first half and hopefully learn from that.
“We ’ v e probably massively overachieved in the first quarter if we’re being honest. We’ve done fantastically well and we’re in a great position but we’re not going to get carried away.
“As a squad we don’t get too high after a win or too low after a defeat. We’ll get a good week of training under our belt, get this out of our system and be ready to go again on Saturday.”
He added: “It was a frustrating afternoon, especially after the way we have been playing recently.
“It’s difficult to come away to Dunfermline and basically give them a goal of a start which makes it an uphill struggle.
“They looked the better team in the first half and were deservedly in front at the break but I thought we came out and showed bottle and determination in the second half and on a different day we could have got back into it.”
As for the freakish opening goal, the former Scotland international insisted it’s something that goalies just have to wipe from their memory.
He said: “It’s just one of those things really. It was a short pass-back and I’ve just tried to get there before their guy. It could really have gone anywhere but it’s gone into the bottom corner.
“These things happen and it’s really just one that you have to forget about and move on from. It’s down to luck.”
