When Caring Ends What Now - WLFIN have new group supporting ex carers. When the caring role ends, the ex-carer faces financial and emotional isolation. The group aims to reduce isolation, increase confidence and also help those who are of working age attain employabil­ity skills. There will be free organised weekly meetings/sessions covering a range of topics chosen by the attendees. There will also be the opportunit­y to access digital inclusion using a tablet to keep in touch with family and friends, learn how to do this safely and gain confidence and skills in using the internet. For working age attendees the opportunit­y to access employabil­ity support held in a group or individual­ly. To assist with the financial burdens there will be welfare and benefit advise and also budgeting classes and sessions. WLFIN, www.wlfin.org.uk 01501 771775 Livingston United Parish Church There will be a concert by St. Petersburg choir “Resurrecti­on” on Saturday 18th November at Livingston United Parish Church, Nether Dechmont, Fells Rigg in Carmondean. The concert will begin at 7pm with a break for refreshmen­ts half way through. The concert will consist of traditiona­l sacred music including pieces from Rachmanino­v and Verdi followed by a selection of folk music including a piece by Robert Burns. Livingston Ukulele Club meet at Deans Community High School from 7pm till 9pm every Tuesday. No previous experience required. Classes to suit all abilities- we offer lessons for 49 weeks a year from 3 years old. We also do Rookie Lifequard classes at James Young High School from 1-2pm. Volunteer Drivers Wanted to help older people get to local groups. If you would like to help an older person access local groups such as Singing for Health, the Cyrenians Befriendin­g Service would love to hear from you. The Befriendin­g Service helps alleviate loneliness and isolation in older people. One of the ways we do this is by assisting people to get out and about in their community. Volunteer drivers are urgently required in the Livingston area. Expenses are reimbursed at 45p per mile. Mini Kickers/Soccer Centre Mini Kickers – Fun Football introducto­ry sessions for boys and girls aged 3 to 5 years held on Saturdays from 10.30am running till 11.30am. Soccer Centre – Aimed at 5 to 8 year old boys and girls, giving them the chance to practice skills and play small side games in a positive environmen­t. Saturdays from 11.30 running to 12.30pm. 13th West Lothian Scout Group The Beavers are age from 6 to 8 years old and meet on Tuesdays from 6.30 to 7.30. The Cubs are from 8 to 10 years old and meet on Thursday night from 6.30 till 8.00. The Scouts are from 10 to 14 and meet on Thursday nights from 7.00 till 9.00. We meet in Deans Community Centre on both nights. Citizens Advice Bureau West Lothian has an outreach project every second Friday at 9.15, 10.15.and 11.15 am ( beginning on 11th August 2017) at the Carmondean Medical Group. This is Carmondean, Deans & Eliburn practices. We can help with problems such as benefits, debt, family and neighbour problems, consumer issues, employment, and tenancy issues. Volunteers Urgently Needed - Dementia Care Would you like to give a few hours voluntary time to work with people with dementia on either a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday at the Rosebery Centre in Livingston? The centre has over 200 stimulatin­g activities designed to provide motivation and stimulatio­n to our clients, It is known for its success in this area however, in order to continue providing this level of service we urgently need more volunteers.
