Hopkin gives players time off

-

With no fixture next weekend due to their league fixture against St Mirren being postponed, Livi boss David Hopkin has rewarded his players with time off before preparing for their Scottish Cup clash with Junior outfit Glenafton Athletic.

The match with the Buddies was called off after the Paisley side had three players called up for national team duty.

Hopkin said:“I’ve given the players a few days off and we’ll all come back refreshed on Thursday and ready to go again.

“We did the same last time we had a week off and it’s important to give the players that time off to recuperate when you get the chance.

“The free weekend will give some of the guys the chance to recover from wee knocks and the likes of Jack McMillan, who I had to take off at half-time last week with an ankle injury, to get closer to fitness without missing games.

“I’ve told the players to go and relax and switch off and completely take themselves away from football.

“I’ve got players who I trust and I know that they look after themselves off the park and give me everything they can on the park during games.”
