SHOP RAIDERS STEAL £12K OF CIGARETTES

Police are appealing for witnesses following a break in at a business in Stoneyburn.

Between 5.15am and 5.40am on Saturday (november 4) two men arrived at the day to day premises on Main street, Stoneyburn and forced entry through a front door.

The suspects arrived in a dark coloured estate car, driven by another person, which was parked within Knowepark Road, Stoneyburn, during the theft.

Once inside the premises, the suspects stole a large quantity of cigarettes to the value of approximat­ely £12,000.

The first suspect is described as a white male, aged 30 to 40 years old, of slim build, wearing a blue jacket, dark hoodie, faded dark jeans and trainers.

The second suspect is described as a white male, of medium build, wearing a dark jacket, jeans and trainers.

Following the theft, the males were driven off in the car from Knowepark Road and left Stoneyburn heading west.

Detective Constable Jo McCall of Livingston Cid said: “This break-in has resulted in the business having to temporaril­y close.

“We are eager to trace those responsibl­e and ask that anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time, or anyone who has seen anyone matching the descriptio­ns of the suspects, to contact police immediatel­y.”
