Call for board members
Children’s charity Barnardo’s Scotland is encouraging West Lothian people to come forward and offer a child a new home.
Scottish Adoption Week, which runs until Sunday (November 26), celebrates adoption in Scotland, raising awareness, dispelling myths and encouraging prospective parents in Edinburgh and the Lothians to come forward.
The charity’s Adoption Placement Service, launched in the Scottish Parliament six years ago, has helped many children and young people find a loving home and family. And six years on The Scottish Ambulance Service and NHS 24 are appealing for West Lothian people to come forward as a recruitment drive for their public boards was launched.
Both organisations are hoping to attract interest from a broad cross-section of society, in every part of Scotland, to further enhance the mix of skills and experience on their nonexecutive boards.
Speaking ahead of the launch, Scottish Ambulance Service chairman, David Garbutt, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for somebody who is passionate about healthcare to join a board that is right at the frontline of NHS Scotland and central to primary care transformation. No formal qualifications or previous board experience are necessary.
“The main thing we are looking for is an enthusiastic individual with strong communication and collaborative skills who is capable of growing into this challenging and rewarding role with the service.”
NHS 24 chair, Esther Robertson, said: “Serving on an NHS board is very rewarding and we are hoping to attract interest from communities across Scotland.
“We want our boards to reflect the Scotland we serve so anyone with a genuine interest in public services is encouraged to apply.”
