Rose boss in shouting match over 10-card ref

- Bonnyrigg Rose ...... 0 Linlithgow Rose ..... 0

Superleague Alan Robertson Linlithgow Rose striker Tommy Coyne was chasing one record but a stone-faced ref was on course for another with 10 yellow cards in a noisy Roses gig.

However, his failure to flash a second red meant he was far from adored by Linlithgow boss Mark Bradley who called for him to be “demoted”.

Five yellow cards emerged from Colin Whyte’s top pocket in each half with Bonnyrigg’s Keiran McGachie walking with 30 minutes left after collecting two for cynical challenges.

His team-mate Ewan Moyes earned a booking 10 minutes later for taking out Owen Ronald as he threatened to punish 10-man Bonnyrigg on the counter.

But Linlithgow gaffer Bradley – whose side’s lead at the Superleague summit was cut to four points despite going 10 games unbeaten – saw red.

He said: “When they got the man sent off you’re expecting to kick on and win the game.

“But for the referee not to send the other boy off, quite frankly it’s a disgrace to football. The boy knows what he is doing and he put his hands up himself – it’s a straight red all day long. I know it’s hard enough for the referee but that’s an absolute disgrace.

“I hope Alan Freeman, who was here, goes back and reports that because it’s shocking. It’s assault and that would have made it maybe more difficult, I don’t know.

“But we didn’t get to find out because he never took the job on that he is meant to do. That’s a straight red all day long. It was the worst one in the game.

“The captain has scythed him waist high – it’s ridiculous. And the cameras will show it so I hope that gets sent into the SFA as well and he gets demoted because it’s a disgrace.
