Highway Men lead way in top flight Club go into break at top of their game

-

The West Calder and District Darts League reached a third of the way through the season this week with teams playing their eighth games.

The Volunteer Highway Men lead the way in the Premiership with 14 points, but they sit just two points in front of the Commercial Inn Nomads with Almondale Pirates from Craigshill a further two points behind in third spot.

The Championship is just as tight with the top three teams separated by four points.

It’s the Grand Central Railroaders who lead the way with a perfect record.

The Doo Club Flyers sit in second place on 14 points with Tower Bar Knights from Craigshill sitting in third place with six wins and two defeats. Results: Tower Bar Knights 8-1 Doo Club Fanciers, Volunteer Highway Men 5-4 Almondale Pirates, Kirknewton Barkeepers 4-5 Grand Central Steamers, Deans Bowling Club Golden Oldies 5-4 Murray Bar Crofters, Commercial Inn Nomads 6-3 Stirrup Stane Wanderers, Loganlea Colliers 6-3 Cawburn Highlanders. West Lothian Table Tennis Club have several teams in great positions as they prepare for the winter break.

The A team, led by Lukasz Kaska, are sitting comfortably in the top half of the Premier League table with six wins to their name from their nine matches.

It looks like they could be joined in the top flight next season by West Lothian B who aim to make it 10 wins from 10 this season as they host Corstorphine B tonight (Thursday).

West Lothian C, however, are sitting just above the relegation zone and the break comes at a good time for them as they have lost their last three games.

In Division Two, in direct contrast to the team’s B side, West Lothian E are yet to pick up a victory and will need to find some form after the restart in January if they are to avoid the drop. West Lothian D suffered defeat at home to Corstorphine C this week to go into the break with five wins and four defeats.

West Lothian F are sitting pretty in Division Three and will be keen to keep up their promotion bid in the new year.

They take on Edinburgh International D on Friday night in a clash featuring the top two teams with the winner set to lead the way at the mid-point of the season.

West Lothian G are second bottom heading into the break.
