Hat-trick for Livi loanee

-

Livingston loanee Jack Hamilton helped Penicuik Athletic ease into the third round of the East of Scotland Cup as the 17-year-old found the net three times.

Aaron Somerville netted twice for the Cuikie with Andy Forbes and Sean Jamieson also getting their names on the scoresheet for the visitors as they avoided a cup giant-killing with ease.

Elsewhere, Bathgate Thistle were dumped out of the Scottish Junior Cup at the third round stage as they fell to a 5-1 defeat away to Cumnock - the team the Jags beat to lift the trophy in 2008.

Jamie Clark scored Thistle’s goal but it was merely a consolation as they were sitting 4-0 down at the time.

Both Whitburn’s home clash with Benburb and Linlithgow Rose’s trip away to Oakley United were both called off due to the weather.

Only one other clash involving a West Lothian side was given the go ahead and South Division strugglers Stoneyburn gave a decent account of themselves as they lost 5-0 away to Superleague title hopefuls Bonnyrigg Rose at new Dundas Park.

It was a spirited display from the Fulshie who were able to hold on until the half hour mark before conceding three goals before the break.

Wayne McIntosh netted the first two while Ross Gray wrapped up the game with a third on 43 minutes. Both players would then go on to find the net again in the second half.
