Boxer’s touch of class
a Livingston boxer has worn aMC on his ring gear to raise awareness of a rare condition called arthrogryposis which affects his friend’s young daughter.
boxer Martin taylor wore the three letter slogan at his fight in paisley earlier this month to try and highlight the condition that affects two-year-old arabella Wood.
arabella’s mum, Cat Wood, said: “Martin has been a massive support to myself and my daughter’s dad since her birth.”
A Livingston boxer is raising awareness of a rare condition that has affected his friend’s young daughter.
Martin Taylor highlighted arthrogryposis during a fight in Paisley this month by printing an AMC logo on his ring gear .
AMC is the charity that helps with the condition.
The boxer chose to raise awareness of arthrogryposis, which curves joints, for young Arabella Wood who suffers from the condition.
Martin said: “I’m close friends with Bella’s dad William Green and I asked them if they would mind because I know there isn’t a lot of awareness.
“I want to raise as much awareness as possible that way. I was talking to her dad and we’re going to try to do things next year for the AMC charity, start up a Just Giving page, do runs and hopefully raise as much money as possible.
“I’ll be wearing the AMC logo for all my future fights and I’m going to as ask about putting Arabella’s name on as well.”
Arthrogryposis multiplex congenital (AMC) is a congenital joint contracture in two or more areas of the body, causing joints to curve.
Cat Wood, Arabella’s mum, said: “It’s a very rare condition. Sometimes it can affect just some limbs but my daughter has been affected in all her limbs.
“Martin has been a massive support to myself and my daughter’s dad since the birth of our daughter.
“This is such a beautiful gesture, a selfless act to spread awareness for our daughter who cannot walk , crawl or sit up at age two.”
