Transport operator given four year ban
Boss colluded in scam
The owner of a Broxburn transport firm will be disqualified from running vehicles for four years in March, after abusing the trust that was placed in him as an operator.
S c o t l a n d ’ s Deputy Tra f f i c Commissioner found that Ian Adam had colluded with a disqualified transport operator by allowing his own operator’s licence to be used to conceal the unlawful operation of buses by John Campbell.
Mr Campbell was banned from operating vehicles for six years in June 2016.
In a written decision issued after a public inquiry in Edinburgh, Scotland’s Deputy Traffic Commissioner Hugh Olson, said Mr Adam had shown that he was prepared to put the needs of his own business above the need to comply with the regulatory regime.
He ruled Mr Adam had colluded with John Campbell, who used to run Vision Travel, and when he was in danger of being found out, gave an inaccurate account to government inspectors.
“The reason that Ian Adam kept quiet for four months was because it was to Mr Adam’s benefit to do so as he was able to have free use of the Linlithgow operating centre and of John Campbell’s buses,” the Deputy Commissioner remarked.
“Ian Adam in evidence did not express any regret or contrition about his concealment of John Campbell’s activities.”
Mr Adam’s operator licence will be revoked at on Friday March 2, 2018. The order for disqualification will also take effect on the same date.
Additionally, Mr Adam will be disqualified from acting as a transport manager for four years on March 2.
