Broughty seared as good run continues

- Broxburn Athletic ... 4 Broughty Athletic ... 0

Superleague Superleague Broxburn Athletic continued their incredible recent form as they swept aside the visitors Broughty with a fine display.

That makes it 20 goals scored and none conceded in the last four games for the Albyn Park side, a run that has seen them jump to fourth in the Superleague table and they remain unbeaten at home this term.

The only surprise in the contest was that the final margin was only four as Brian McNaughton’s men were in complete control for almost the entire 90 minutes.

Early chances were spurned through captain Nick Locke, prolific striker Zander Miller and Zander Locke, with the latter seeing his effort brilliantly pushed wide for a corner.

The opener eventually arrived midway through the first half when full-back Gordon Donaldson was in the right place at the right time to tap home a flick-on from Murray after he surged into the box unmarked to guide the ball home.

Broughty would enjoy their only real spell of dominance of the afternoon shortly after they went behind and things could have turned out differently had they been able to capitalise but Brian Clark blasted well over the bar with their best chance, while Jamie Winter wasn’t able to make the most of a quick counter-attack as his effort was well off target.

Miller then squandered a terrific opportunity to double his side’s lead moments before the interval but fired wide after working his way into a decent position.

Broxburn continued to have the better of proceedings after the interval and would have extended their lead around the hour mark had Locke been able to keep his effort down when neatly played in by the impressive Scott Richards.
