Bid to get justice for Kirsty

- Sean O’Neil

Friends of Kirsty Maxwell have raised over £1000 in a week to help fund her family’s quest for justice.

Carolynn Simpson and other friends of Kirsty’s will run the Edinburgh 10k in May 2018 and have started a Just Giving page to raise money for justice for Kirsty (below), setting a target of £2000.

Ms Simpson wrote: “In April 2017, we lost our most special girl, Kirsty Maxwell.

“Kirsty was the most fun, happy, lovable person you could ever meet. Her smile lit up our lives, and those of anyone she met. She was truly one of a kind, the best friend you could ever dream of.

“Kirsty lost her life in circumstances which remain unclear. Every day is a battle for her family in their search for the truth. To establish the truth costs a significant amount in terms of legal fees.

“Please support us by donating to our page. We need justice. Kirsty deserves justice.”

Sharing the Just Giving page a spokesperson for the Kirsty Maxwell Information Appeal thanked those who continued to support their fight for the truth.

They said: “Words cannot describe the gratitude of Kirsty’s family to everyone who continues to be so supportive pushing the appeal for information, sharing social media posts and fundraising to help finance the ongoing fight for justice and truth about Kirsty’s death. Thank you everyone for your support.

“Families should not have to push their own investigations, pressurise authorities for answers and finance professionals, this should come as a matter of course. “Governments should automatically be p providing support to fa families losing loved ones to homicide and s suspicious deaths abroad however, sadly ,it does not happen. Kirsty’s fa family have been left to fi find their own way t through a challenging le legal system in another c country.”
