New Aldi store will bring jobs to Whitburn

Aldi has announced that it will open a new store in Whitburn, creating up to 20 new jobs.
The supermarket, which is being built on Longridge Road, is on track to open by October 2018 and the recruitment process is already underway.
Richard Holloway, managing director of Aldi Scotland, said:“Our sales and customer numbers are growing in Scotland, and there’s demand for new Aldi stores throughout the country.
“Our growing customer base knows that when they shop at Aldi they are buying the best value and best quality products possible, and that we are always working to increase the number of Scottish-sourced products we sell.
“In addition to creating new jobs, our new stores will increase Aldi’s footprint across the country and enable even more customers to switch to Aldi for their weekly shop.”
In addition to Whitburn the retailer is creating additional floor space at its existing store in Livingston.
The investment will see the Livingston supermarket being upgraded as part of Aldi’s Project Fresh programme, which will result in more space being available in store for fresh, chilled and food-to-go ranges.
In December, Aldi officially opened its new multi-million pound Scottish Buying Office at its headquarters in Bathgate and announced a Scottish Small Supplier Development Programme to give up-and-coming food and drink companies the chance to secure their big break by getting their products into stores.
This year, work will also begin on a further £22million investment in new chill and freezer facilities at Aldi’s Scottish headquarters in Bathgate.
