Dunkirk is latest film to be aired at pop up cinema
West Calder Community Cinema is currently running a trial run of pop up cinema events at the West Kirk of Calder.
‘Moana’, the first of the pop-up cinema events in January, had a great turn out with 150 people attending the screening with fantastic feedback from those who were there.
The next showing will be‘Dunkirk’ (12) on Friday, February 23 at 7pm in the West Kirk of Calder.
The film is set in May 1940, as Germany advanced into France, trapping Allied troops on the beaches of Dunkirk.
Under air and ground cover from British and French forces, troops were slowly and methodically evacuated from the beach using every serviceable naval and civilian vessel that could be found.
At the end of this heroic mission, 330,000 French, British, Belgian and Dutch soldiers were safely evacuated.
Suggested donations on the door are adults £5 and £2.50 concessions.
The church hall will be open from 6pm for teas and coffees.
‘Sunset Boulevard’– the old black and white classic – will be the March screening on Friday, March 23. For more information, or to get involved contact the community development trust at 14 Union Square West Calder or email cdt@ westcalder.org.
