Moana, the first of the pop-up cinema events in January, had a great turn out with 150 people attending the screening with fantastic feedback from those attending. For more informatio­n, or to get involved contact the Trust at 14 Union Square West Calder or email cdt@westcalder. org Meet the Artist Evening & Interactiv­e Art Session West Calder & Harburn CDT, Polbeth Community Council and West Lothian Council are very pleased to announce that award winning artist Kate Ive has successful­ly won the contract to design and build an artwork which will sit beside the A71 between West Calder & Polbeth by the entrance to the new West Calder High School. There will also be artworks created for display in the new West Calder High School and possibly a smaller artwork within the School grounds, Kate said: I am delighted to have been awarded this project and I am looking forward to working with many different groups from the villages to develop art that will really say something meaningful and positive about your communitie­s. Kate Ive is an Edinburgh based artist and works from her studio at Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop. She has created a number of notable artworks, including for the Helensburg­h Outdoor Museum, the city of Edinburgh Council’s Promenade, Falkland Conservati­on Park in Fife and a number of sculpture commission­s for Scottish Government campaigns. Kate is currently lead artists for the Art & Therapeuti­c Design Project ‘Old to New’ for the new hospital being built in Edinburgh. She will be running an interactiv­e art session at The West Kirk of Calder on Friday 23rd February between 6-9pm during the Pop Up Community Cinema Screening of Dunkirk for all those who want to come & meet her and take part in a hands on art session. Please note that this year’s Annual General Meeting for West Calder Bowling Club will be held on Sunday 4th March 2018 at 2pm. Scout Group we have vacancies in all sections for boys and girls: Beavers - Age 6 to 8yrs- meet on a Monday evening in the West Kirk Hall from 6.15 until 7.15pm. Cubs - Age 8yrs to 10yrs 6months - meet on a Wednesday evening in the West Kirk Hall from 6.15 until 7.30pm. Scouts - Age 10yrs 6months to 14yrs - meet on a Thursday evening in the West Kirk Hall from 6.30 until 8.30pm.
