NEW BUS ROUTE

-

A national bus company are considering plans to open a new route between Livingston and Glasgow.

Scottish Citylink are looking at ways to develop the new route as the current service between Glasgow and Edinburgh travels along the M8, bypassing the West Lothian town.

Angela Constance, MSP for Almond Valley, recently met with Peter Knight, Operations Director of Scottish Citylink to discuss ways to improve transport links for her constituency.

Following the meeting Scottish Citylink have said they are now considering linking Glasgow and Livingston.

Peter Knight, Operations Director at Scottish Citylink said: “We are always looking to develop and enhance our services for the benefit of communities along the route between Glasgow and Edinburgh.

“Following the meeting with Angela Constance MSP, we are currently considering the possibility of a Citylink service between Livingston and Glasgow serving Harthill and the major office park development at Maxim Park. Should a route be viable we will continue to work with Angela to introduce this in due course.”

Angela Constance MSP for Almond Valley said: “Local transport provision is an issue that affects many of my constituents.

“We need to make it easier for people to travel to our main cities and if Scottish Citylink are able to add Livingston to their routes that would be good news indeed. I will continue to work with Scottish Citylink to take this proposal forward.”
