Clapton tribute act will play theatre

One of the world’s biggest Eric Clapton tribute acts will take to the stage in Livingston in March.

Classic Clapton, starring frontman Mike Hall, will be making a welcome return to Howden Park Centre.

This will be their sixth visit to the Livingston venue and most of their previous appearances sold out. Classic Clapton currently have no other shows booked in Scotland so demand for tickets should be high. Fans are advised to book early.

The band will perform all of Clapton’s classic songs including‘Wonderful Tonight’, ‘Tears in Heaven’,‘Crossroads’,‘I Shot The Sheriff’,‘Lay Down Sally’,‘Cocaine’and of course‘Layla’.

The band was formed in 1985 in Newcastle upon Tyne and their ability to re-create Clapton’s electrifying stage performances really caught the audience’s imagination and in guitar/vocalist Mike Hall, the band possesses a frontman who not only looks like Eric, he sings and plays guitar like him too.

In 1999, Mike won a national lookalike competition held at Madam Tussauds, London. Mike has met Clapton twice, and even received a message of encouragement from the guitar maestro himself.

In 2001 they embarked on their first extensive tour of UK Theatres and since then they have continued to perform throughout the UK and Ireland including concerts at The Royal Festival Hall, London and a triumphant appearance at Glastonbury Festival in 2002.

In the past few years they have performed numerous concerts in Europe including Spain, Estonia, Holland and France and in 2009 they appeared for the first time in Mumbai.

A 10,000 mile round-trip for one gig but it was a great experience and they were invited back for three more concerts in India in 2016.

This included performing in front of 3500 people in an open air sports arena in Mumbai and in March 2017 they appeared in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

In the past 33 years, Classic Clapton has become something of a rock institution and have released three albums.

The band will be performing at Howden Park Centre, Livingston on Friday, March 2, at 7.30pm.
