Busy schedule for youths

-

Livingston Rugby Club’s youth teams had another busy weekend with their under-13 and 14s facing Dumfries while the under-16s took on the Currie Chieftains and under-18 girls battled Stirling County.

The girls gave a decent account of themselves against much stronger opposition with tries from Erin Steel, Lucy Kidd and Morgan Bennett coming in a 67-15 defeat.

The under-18 boys took on a very strong Hamilton side but lost 36-15.

Tries came from Fraser Paterson and Alex Bruce with Paterson adding a conversion and penalty.

Under-16s coach Gary Murchison admitted he was pleased with his side’s 33-33 draw against Currie but was disappointed by another slow start.

He said:“This was another game where we made life difficult for ourselves in the first half.

“However it was great to see that, yet again, our heads never went down which resulted in a really good second half.

“It was pleasing to see that, at times, we recognised when we were on the front foot and starting to play quick ball.

“We will be able to do this more often as our breakdown improves.”

Tries came from Ewan Steel (two), Jozef Lejkowsk, Cammy Philp and Andrew Murchison with Steel adding a conversion alongside three from Kayne MacAulay.
