Burnie belly-up goes viral

-

Whitburn striker Jordan Thomson has become an internet sensation after producing a stunning bit of skill during his side’s recent clash with Harthill Royal.

The hilarious action saw him control the ball with his stomach while lying on the ground to set his team up in attack.

The 25- year- old helped his side to a 6- 2 win but it was one piece of magic that was the biggest talking point in the game. Thomson didn’t manage to hit the back of the net but was involved in creating four of his side’s goals.

And he reckons he’s amazed by the reaction to the bit of skill but doesn’t think he’ll ever be able to do it again.

He said: “I challenged for a header with a Harthill player and lost my footing slightly as the pitch was very heavy, the ball smacked me right in the face as I fell.

“Then my teammate Martin ‘Tino’ Russell fired the ball straight at me when I was on the ground, so I thought all I have is my belly to try and keep the ball so lay back as fast as I could and to my amazement I pulled it off.”

The clip, which was shared by Soccer AM, has 55,000 views on Facebook, something Thomson can’t believe.

“All the lads were laughing about it at half-time and after the game but I didn’t think it was that funny until I saw the clip. You can hear some of the crowd laughing, I’m just happy it gave people a laugh.

“It’s gone a bit viral and my phone has been non-stop since. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to do it again.”
