country parks rangers with conservation, ma i n t e n a n c e , promotion and events.
They held their first practical session in the Almondell in early January, and will meet monthly throughout the year to tackle a wide range of tasks and projects.
Plans for 2018 include maintaining the ponds in Calderwood, new planting on the former mansion site slopes and regular tasks such as bracken whipping, bramble control, eradicating invasive plants such as Himalyan balsam and Japanese Knotweed, litter picking and keeping pathways clear.
Anyone considering joining the group can contact them via their Facebook page Friends of Almondell and Calderwood or phone the ranger team on 01506 882254.
