EARLY YEARS
Level 6 Childhood Practice students recently had the opportunity to learn from the experts at a conference at West Lothian College.
The event gave students the chance to hear first-hand from professionals within the childhood practice sector.
On the day students heard presentations from a wide variety of childhood practice professionals who provided advice for the students, helping them to make informed choices about their futures within the sector.
Presenters included Denise Black and Kirsty Purvis from Surestart, Raymond Branton from Family Community and Development, Early Years Development Officer Claire Kane, Kay Chalmers from Blackridge Nursery Class speaking about the Big Bedtime Read and Julie McNeil and Carol Golightly from Childsmile.
Lecturer, Heather Sievewright, said: “Within West Lothian we are fortunate in the wealth of early years services available to children and their families. The speakers were inspirational in not only supporting the students learning but allowing them to hear first- hand about the career opportunities available within the sector.”
