APPRENTICESHIPS
Neil Findlay MSP met with apprentices at Livingston Autoparts as part of National Apprenticeship Week.
Joined by representatives from Skills Development Scotland, Neil met with Bill Burnside, the owner of Livingston Autoparts, to discuss the local apprentices they employ and the training they offer. Apprenticeships are designed to tackle potential skills gaps, and support new or existing employees to develop. In West Lothian, 9.1 per cent of all 16 to 24 year olds in employment are taking part in Modern Apprenticeships. The Scottish average is nine per cent.
Neil Findlay said: “Getting young people into skilled work is at the heart of my politics and its always good to meet employers willing to give apprentices a chance.
“In West Lothian, I am working closely with the council and employers to encourage the uptake of apprentices and I hope to see a significant rise in their uptake in the years to come.”
