Hospital cash walk is pasta joke
Jill Pitcairn proved that her boots were made for walking - even when they were filled with spaghetti.
The 12-year-old and a group of pals raised £185 for Edinburgh’s Western General Hospital by covering the three miles from Pumpherston to Uphall and back with their wellies full of tinned spaghetti.
Jill, her sister Ashleigh and friends Tracy Campbell, Vicky Gillies and Julie Mandark undertook the fundraiser to qualify for their Girl Guides Green Trefoil badge.
Broxburn Academy pupil Jill said: “I had to do a fundraiser to get my badge and I thought this seemed like a good and fun way to do it.
“It was really messy though and this was certainly a one-off.
“I hope to get my Red Trefoil badge now but we don’t have to do any fundraisers for that and there definitely won’t be any more spaghetti.”
