Peter looks for revival

-

Peter Wright will be keen to bounce back from a disappointing spell as he looks to climb the PDC Premier League Darts table tonight (Thursday) with victory over Michael Smith at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham.

The 47-year-old from Livingston has failed to win any of his last three matches and is in danger of failing to reach Phase Two with the bottom two players dumped after Judgment Night on April 5 as he currently has just one win to his name.

Wright fell to eighth spot in the table last week after suffering a 7-1 defeat to Mensur Suljovic with that loss coming just a few days after the world No.2 suffered a surprise exit on the first day of the UK Open.

The reigning champion was edged out 10-9 at the hands of teenage ace Nathan Rafferty, who was making his televised tournament debut.

Wright is first up in Nottingham and will need to up his game from recent weeks if he is to cause an upset against his opponent, who suffered his first defeat of the campaign last weekend against Gerwyn Price, having rattled off four successive wins to start his season.

Meanwhile, the 2018 World Series of Darts calendar has been fixed. Wright begins his bid for the title on May 25 in Germany with the final scheduled for November 4 in Vienna, Austria.

The Series also enjoys stops in the United States, China, New Zealand and Australia.
