100 years ago In February 1918, the 1st Broxburn Girl Guide Company was registered and, to mark this occasion, there is a display of photographs and other memorabilia in an area of the Community Museum at the Strathbrock Partnership. These pictures and documents feature leaders and girls who have been members of this Guide Company over the years. The first Rainbow Unit to be registered in West Lothian was the one in Broxburn and Uphall District and that took place 30 years ago in March 1988. A few pictures of this unit have also been included in the display. The 1st Uphall Brownie Pack was the first pack to be registered in West Lothian which shows, when it came to “leading the way”, the leaders and girls from this part of the county certainly did that.
