Restrictions atweekends for bridge repair work Police appealing for witnesses after wheelie bin fire damages building
Drivers are advised they could face disruption as vital repairs are carried out on the B792 Guildiehaugh Railway Bridge in Bathgate.
Guildiehaugh Railway Bridge carries the B792 Blackburn Road over the Edinburgh to Glasgow electrified railway line. Vital repairs are required to the concrete structure to ensure the safety of the railway line below and road users.
The project is due to begin on May 6 with work restricted to the weekend, and during the hours of Saturday midnight through to 8am Sunday morning every weekend until all works are complete.
It’s expected a temporary traffic light system is likely to be in place during these hours.
Work is expected to be complete before December, however the overall duration will be dependent upon the extent of repairs which will only be known for certain once the works begin.
The main works will take place to the bridge deck soffit and will involve breaking out defective concrete to a number of longitudinal beams forming the deck structure and reinstating the concrete beams with sprayed concrete.
All work will take place within Network Rails boundary and will require full possession of the railway and isolation of Network Rail’s electrical equipment.
Every effort will be made by West Lothian Council and the private contractor to minimise disruption to commuters and businesses and all reasonable measures will be taken in order to minimize noise levels.
Local residents will be provided with further details from the contractor closer to the start date. Police are appealing for witnesses to a suspicious fire in Livingston after two wheelie bins were set alight outside of a property causing significant damage to the building.
