Rotary’s £26,000 gift for fabulous causes
Group share out festive fundraising money
The Rotary Club of Livingston has handed out over £26,000 to local good causes thanks to their fundraising at Christmas.
Members enjoyed their annual charity dinner to distribute the funds raised from its Christmas 2017 Projects.
The club organised two fundraising ventures last year; The Rudolph Project and The ASDA Christmas Collections.
The total raised from The Rudolph Project was a fantastic £9454 which was match-funded by SKY TV, taking the total to £18,908.
The money was presented by Rt Hon Mrs Moira Niven MBE, Lord Lieutenant of West Lothian to representatives from Diabetes Support Group West Lothian, Edinburgh Headway Group, Marie Curie Edinburgh, Macmillan Cancer Support, Pinewood School West Lothian and Signpost.
The ASDA Livingston Christmas Collections raised £3720 (this included a donation of £1500 from Henbury Ltd, Livingston) and the amount was again match-funded by SKY TV taking it to £7440.
This was again presented by Moira Niven to representatives from Friends of Chernobyl’s Children West Lothian, Riding for the Disabled West Lothian, The Rosebery Centre Livingston and Young Carers West Lothian.
In total, £26,348 was distributed from the work done by The Rotary Club of Livingston over the Christmas 2017 period.
President Lizette Bingham said: “A very special thank you to everyone who bought a rudolph, owl or snowman from The Rudolph Project 2017 or made a contribution at The ASDA Livingston Christmas Collections 2017.”
The Rotary Club of Livingston meet every Wednesday in the Mercure Livingston Hotel at 6.45pm for a 7pm start.
New members welcome.
