Sparks fly at Racewall night

At The Racewall Cowdenbeat­h on a dry, chilly evening in the BriSCA Formula IIs Colin Forbes, Broxburn and Ewan Mackie, Armadale, finished third and fifth in their first race .

There were fifteen drivers on the grid for the next race with Chris Burgoyne winning heat one and Craig Wallace heat two but neither Forbes nor Mackie finished in the top ten.

Midway through the final Mackie was involved in a five car shunt and had to retire and whilst Wrench won Forbes brought his car home in seventh place.

Amongst the ministox drivers in action were Taylor and Ryan Borthwick from Armadale, and Hannah Borthwick from Blackridge.

In the white/yellow challenge heat Hannah Borthwick ended up in fifth spot.

Their first heat was the“Let the Sparks Fly”trophy with Ryan Borthwick an early casualty having to retire after a heavy shunt.

Taylor Borthwick was sent spinning out of eighth place and although she restarted she did retire later on in the race.

In the end Michael Mitchell won from David Sinclair and Bryan Scott.

The Micro F2 drivers were in good form and included Callan Walker, Armadale and Owen Marshall, Blackridge, with the latter appearing in his first race and ran towards the back of the field for most of the time.

Walker on the other hand was ninth in heat one, third in heat two and followed that with a fourth place in heat three.
